Up in the Daintree

Trucks play a vital role in supplying the scenic Daintree region of far north Queensland, and beyond to Cape Tribulation.

Daintree Village is 50km past Mossman which in turn is about 60km north of Cairns along the Captain Cook Highway. Tourists usually flock to the Daintree region in normal times, however that has decreased during the Coronavirus Pandemic. I travelled to the Daintree recently in rainy weather but still found lots of trucks making deliveries.

One of the big attractions is the crocodile infested Daintree River.

Some trucks took the ferry across the Daintree River to deliver to parts of Cape Tribulation

One of the most beautiful places I came across was Cow Bay, situated in the rainforest 32kms past Daintree Village.

For Cairns based truckie Steve Richards it was his first time to the Daintree and he loved it. “It’s a hard life but somebody has to do it,” he said.

We suspect Steve’s comment was tongue in cheek.
