Can you tell the difference between these two men? Because Mark Zuckerberg can’t.

When Facebook decided to rebel against the Government’s (and Opposition’s – no favouritism here) extortion demands on behalf of a few media barons, and took all Australian news off their pages, they included Truckin With Kermie on their hit list.

Now whilst I’d like to be known as a Media Baron, I have neither the money, the power nor the general clout of the Murdoch’s, Nine, Seven or any of the other media I got included with.

So after 24 hours spent trying to find a way to connect with FB to explain the error of their ways, I finally found a portal (not the Star Trek type unfortunately) and sent them a long begging message.

FB responded instantly which I was delighted to see – until I read down and saw that it was a computer generated reply. However, the next day I did get an ‘in person’ reply from ‘Rachael’ who directed me to a form I could fill in.

I clicked on said form which was ….yep….the same form I’d filled in initially. So I filled it in again….and again….and again….ad infinitum. The merry-go-round of high tech giants is a bloody nightmare!

Mike William’s – he of the On The Road Podcast – gave me a call to see how I was travelling. You can hear my response on the latest edition #25.

Finally I managed to get Mark Zuckerberg’s phone number and we had a chat. He saw the error of his ways, apologising and promising to put me back on the air, which has now occurred.

My pleas for support for our major media players, who badly need the financial help due to not being able to run their own businesses effectively, also garnered Mark’s sympathy and he has reinstated their spots in the Facebook Universe.

No need to thank me Mr Murdoch, Costello, etc. But I was a bit miffed at our esteemed Treasurer taking the credit for my hard work.

So now it’s onward and hopefully upward for Truckin With Kermie. It’s nice to be back (Smiley Face).
