The Girl gets Shirl

Screenshot_20210129-152728_Facebook.jpg

Terri Williams was happily shooting video footage down at Koroit after the Convoy to that town when all round good bloke, Shirl McCosker got down on one knee (we’re presuming this because we didn’t actually see the moment. Then again it’s a long way to the ground for a bloke of Shirl’s stature, so maybe he just bent over a bit) and pulling out a sparkling hunk of rock, proposed to Terri. Surprisingly to Shirl and others, Terri gleefully accepted.

Shirl’s not punching above his weight here folks because he’d have plenty of kilos as well as inches on Terri. Congratulations you two. Wonderful news.

Gary Bone: Back to the Future…

GaryBone_2020_0010 (1).jpg

From Vice President – Volvo Trucks Oz, Gary has been appointed to the position of …. Vice President, Volvo Trucks Oz. While this may look to be a distinctly ‘side-ways’ move, it needs to be pointed out that his first stint in the role was back between 2009 and 2013 after which Gary left the company and joined Chesterfield Australia (furniture / cigarettes / other – take your pick. The first correct answer will receive a pat on the back). He returned to the fold last March as Senior VP on the Mack brand and now has returned to familiar territory. Congratulations Gary, but we wonder what position you’d have now if you’d never left.

Ron Crouch AO

We’re sure getting a gong wasn’t on Ron’s mind when he got behind the wheel of his own business back in 1978. Just goes to show what hard work, good living and giving in the form of community work in Wagga Wagga can get you.

If we could ask Ron, we’re sure that he’d happily split his Medal of the Order of Australia in two and give half to his wife, Bev. After all, behind every successful man….

No resting at Tyagarah

Well, not from Feb 1 to 4 if you’re heading that-a-way northbound on the Pacific Highway. The truckies rest stop is undergoing maintenance and they reckon they’ll get it done in 4 days. Anyone want to run a book on it?

While the Stop/Slow folks are at it you’ll have to time your break to coincide with Yelgun, Sleepy Hollow or Chinderah Service Centre.

Fuel Tax Credits Rise

Inked20210129_155507_LI.jpg

From February 1, 2021 the CPI indexation factor for rates is 1.009

Yes I made sure that I had the right number of 0’s in there. So you’ll get an extra 9 cents for every $10 spent. Have I got that right? Never look a gift horse in the mouth.

Anyway, here’s the link so you can work it out for yourselves:  here.

PM sticks it to Mack

Prime Minister, Scott Morrison donned hi-vis at the Volvo Wacol plant to climb a ladder and plonk a ‘Made in Oz‘ sticker on the side of a Mack truck. Congratulations Mr. PM. Hope you put it on straight. He also took a spin in the new Volvo FL Electric but it’s unknown whether he kept the hi-vis on for this.

He was also spotted trying to nick the beloved Bulldog off the bonnet.

The PM praised the company – as he should – and stated, “We make things in Australia, and we make them well.” He also used the occasion to reiterate his support for local manufacturing and resilient supply chains, conveniently forgetting Holden and Ford. Ahh politics.

Freightliner Recall

Red looks good - but preferably red paint only

Red looks good - but preferably red paint only

If you’re sitting in a Freightliner built between 2010 and 2020, and it’s running a Detroit DD15TC engine, you may like to pop into your nearest Freightliner/ Detroit Diesel Dealership before your ride goes BOOM!

There’s a possibility that fuel may leak from the donk’s high pressure fuel rail feed lines. The dealership will replace them with a Severe High Pressure Fuel Line kit.

So to avoid possible severe trouble and an unwanted BBQ, best you get it done ASAP. There’s no cost involved.
