New Hino 700 Series is Coming

Hino has been happily drip-feeding information and partial pics of its upcoming all-new 700 Series prime mover, due for release on June 2, where I’ll be at the unveiling in Sydney. A drive of this important addition to the Hino range won’t be available on that date, but in true Hino tradition I should be behind the wheel shortly thereafter – hopefully for an extended run.

Interior design cues for the 700 follow on from the 300 and 500 Series and this is no bad thing. Those trucks are fresh, modern and inviting – essential elements when you have to have your bum on the seat day after day.

This is an important addition to the Hino range in an increasingly crowded small to medium prime mover market. There is plenty of competition from other Japanese manufacturers as well as the Europeans and the smaller American/Australian offering.

This is what we know to date.

There’ll only be two pedals:

In a nod to customer preference, Hino Australia has confirmed its expanded range of all-new 700 Series trucks will be exclusively two-pedal transmissions - either a true automatic or an automated manual transmission, which are matched to their respective engine power ratings.

The safest Hino Australia truck ever:

Pre-Collision System with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Vehicle Stability Control, LED Headlamps and Daytime Running Lamps plus a suite of additional safety features.

This comprehensive safety package, Hino SmartSafe, features driver-assist technology which takes an active focus on protecting the lives of drivers, passengers and other road users.

Interior: The all-new 700 Series will offer improved levels of comfort and functionality. Hino continues the trend towards a more functional and contemporary interior with a balance of carbon, silver and earthy tones similar to the 500 Series Standard Cab. Driver comfort and functionality will be further improved as a result of the ergonomically-designed wraparound dash layout and the next-generation ISRI 6860 NTS2 driver’s seat.
