First Look: All New Fuso Shogun Unveiled in Japan

Full model change for the first time in six years with improved economy, safety, comfort, and operability

Called the Super Great in Japan, this is a full model change since 2017. For comparison, below is a photo of the current Shogan as it appears on Australian roads

The changes are quite distinctive with the most obvious being the higher roofed cab. The whole effect is to give the truck a sleeker, more aerodynamic look. The Japanese press release talks of a new leaner 6R30 12.8 litre engine putting out 410Hp and 2100Nm but Australia would expect the 510 version as well.

The new truck is expected to be released in Japan within the year, with an Australian release to follow some time later. Below are some more pics of Fuso’s latest and greatest.

The new Shogun has more ‘road presence’

FUSO Easy Access Key (standard equipment on all models)
Just by holding the key in your pocket, you can lock and unlock the doors by pressing the lock/unlock switch. It can be unlocked. The engine can be started without inserting the key.

The new model has an improved cab style, and a newly developed super high roof has been newly added to the cab variations. This greatly expands the interior space and greatly improves livability and storage.

An electric parking brake that can be operated reliably with a small amount of force is now standard equipment. In addition to manual operation, it is also equipped with automatic release and automatic activation functions, reducing troubles caused by forgetting to operate.

The lighting method for the LED rear combination lamp, which was an option on the previous model, has been changed to a new sequential lighting pattern that lights up in the direction of the turn when turning left or right. The bright light illuminates improves visibility from following vehicles and contributes to safe driving.

Along with the redesign of the cab, we have newly installed full LED headlights with a new design that integrates fog lamps and turn lamps. It also contributes to improving aerodynamic characteristics and increases brightness, supporting safe driving.
